Artist Alison Parsons
has lived and traveled around the globe and she*s painted the
beauty of every place she*s been. No place in the world, however,
could capture her passion like Hot Springs National
Park, Arkansas. Her love of the city and its architecture
is reflected in the watercolor and pen & ink paintings that
have made her one of the state*s most popular artists.
1990 began the first in what would become
a long series of paintings featuring the famous places of Hot
Springs and Alison quickly became one of the most sought after
artists in the region. Seasoned collectors, as well as those
who simply saw one of their own favorite landmarks rendered
in her paintings began to purchase her work. Her artwork has
been published on magazine covers and was the subject of special
television broadcasts. She was commissioned by an affiliate
of Keep America Beautiful, Inc. to create watercolor
paintings of Hot Springs National Park for reproduction as note
cards.
Influenced by the early years in her marriage
to husband David spent on the tropical islands of the Republic
of Seychelles, plus life on beautiful Lake Hamilton,
and plein air painting in Garvan Woodlands Gardens,
Alison found herself taking off in a completely different direction
creating a series of bold and passionate Acrylic and Gold Leaf
paintings. The expressionistic paintings of tropical flora show
a completely different side of Alison and open up a new dimension
in her art career and a whole new audience for her work.
Her work has
been recognized and exhibited at such places as United
States Air Force Academy, American Cultural Center of the Republic
of Seychelles, the Democratic National Headquarters, and the
White House during the Clinton administration. In 2004
The National Park Service invited Alison to be their first Artist
in Residence at Hot Springs National Park. The Historic
Arkansas Museum invited Alison to exhibit her paintings
in Acrylic and Gold Leaf in 2007.
